The strangest part of my journey is what prompted me to look into design as a career option. The year was 2002, the movie was What Women Want, and the rest is history. No, I'm not joking.
I began my career while still in high school working for a local newspaper, doing editorial and classified layouts and basic ad designs. From there, I enrolled at The Art Institute of Charlotte and received a bachelor's degree.
I got a job as a designer at a small start-up technology consultant. Did a little web design, a little print design, some UI/UX work, and QA testing to round it off.
Once leaving that job, I was hired on by an ad agency as a production designer. Over the next five years, I slowly clawed my way up the ladder to a senior designer. Once leaving my agency family there, I've begun a new story as an art director. I can now say without a doubt that managing creative teams really is my calling.
Let's see what comes out of my next move.
